Last Weeks Speaker

Our speaker was Beth Stitely who gave us her new members talk.

Beth is from West Virginia (she was born in Pennsylvania) and has been here for 6years. She and her family were planning to be here for 2 years but that had grown somewhat. They came here with a sense of adventure after selling their house and car. They still have all their ‘stuff’ in storage in the USA. Her husband Mike is an Obstetrics & Gynaecology surgeon.
Beth works in the Servant’s Health Clinic in Princess Street which is a Christian based centre  providing free health care to those in need.

Beth explained that their wild life in WV consists of mountain lions, bears, racoons, cardinal birds and white tailed deer. Life in NZ is a little bit safer.

Her hero is Diet Eman a Dutch woman author.

What she cannot do without – coffee.

her music love is Les Misérables.

Her wish if she had super powers, the power of persuasion.

and her favourite holiday is Christmas.

Beth has a love of poetry and wrote the following when her daughter found for leaf clovers in the lawn and they dried and mounted them in a picture frame.

Four Leafed Clover
The four leafed clover hiding in the blades of grass
To be discovered by the hand that will keep it safe
For when the winter is cold winds blow
The snow will bury it deep
Put here beneath the picture frame
It will forever keep
