Last Week's Speaker
Simone Jackson is a woman of many talents, a commercial photographer, worked for AJ Hackett in QT, a wedding photographer, aurora chaser (has worked with Ian Griffin) and also runs a window cleaning business. Recently has spent a lot of time working with Tairoa Head staff photographing the 'life cycle' of the albatross. She has a photography book 'Landscapes of the Peninsular' which includes many pictures our of endagered wildlife.
Dunedin is paradise. But she has noted when out photographing wildlife particularly the YE penguins that tourists get 'way too close' to the nests and birds, crossing the barriers in many cases. They ignore her 'instructions' or pretend not to hear or understand.
She was able to capture the hatching and fledging of albatros which she was extremely lucky to do.

Rotary International Assembly
Andrew gave a 'short' overview of the RI Assembly. There were 537 districts represented. DG Elects and partners totalled 1500.
They ran penary sessions and workshops and they whole assembly was extremely well organised. Most important of course was the people that you meet during the working groups and the social events. There were 3 social nights which gave all the chance to 'mix'.
They learnt heaps and he recommended the experience to all Rotarians if they were given the opportunity.
 15th February 2018 Jumbo Tennis

Februry the 15th

Registration is $500.00 per team of four or $350.00 per team of two. This covers your team's registration fees plus food and drinks.  Come on - get your office to enter a team.

Ah-Lek says..........

Friday came and went very quickly the remainder of the books were made 'short work of'. As noted above we were due at the shop after last week's meeting to shift our Rotary 'stuff' across to road to the other empty shop.
Most notable however was that the heaviest load was carried by the DG Elect's wife Barbara - having JUST arrived back from the RI Assembly in San Diego. Ah-Lek looks very pleased to have a hand to shift the Shelter Box.
All done - until after the next Regent Book Sale.

I have heard about people leaning on their shovels.
I would rather be pulling teeth.
One down five to go.
He is even smiling as he does it!!
It must have been good in San Diego, she smilling also.
David B gets some help from someone in short and tea shirt.
Six tables later and she is still going strong.
Ther she is again - with the heavy load.
To counter the first picture - he did do something.
