Club Notices

We welcomed guests Heather, Rosemary, Diane, Michelle and Glynn to the meeting on Tuesday.

Bob gave us an update on Penny. She had to return to hospital after bypass surgery initially went really well, to remove fluid from her lungs. One of her lungs collapsed, caused by the procedure. She has also picked up an infection so has a long recovery at home now, it will be months before she regains her cardiovascular strength so she could do with another energy transfusion!

The District Conference is May 12-14 with the theme for the gala dinner being 'Winter Wonderland'. There will be a meeting after the Club night tomorrow to discuss ideas for the people involved. Sue mentioned that she still has two single beds for anyone still needing accomodation.

After this weeks meeting there will be a two week break due to Easter and ANZAC day. So after tomorrow the next meeting will be 2 May.

'Outstanding service' recognised

Last week our future DG Andrew Hamilton received a fellowship award from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand for 'outstanding service' to the accounting profession. He is pictured above with fellow recipients and below with the family.

Last Week's Guest Speaker

Lorraine Isaacs gave a wonderful recollection of her 'Lucky Life' at the meeting last Tuesday.

Lorraine reminisced about her arrival to New Zealand as a young girl, growing up in invercargill, going to Otago University at the age of 16, Masters study in Honolulu, falling in love with a gay monk as well as many other so called 'mistakes'!

Lorraine told us about her fantastic and varied careers mainly in the New Zealand Television industry and roles within the University of Otago.

With her wealth of experience Lorraine has three lessons for life:

If you make a mistake, it can be fixed.

You can get away with almost anything if you are positive!

Whatever you want to do, keep doing it.

Lorraine is an amazing speaker and you could tell she would have entertained us for an entire evening.

After her talk,  Lorraine Isaacs was recognised as an honorary Paul Harris Fellow for her contributions to New Zealand television, Otago University and the community. She is pictured below receiving the award, with Derek and Sue.

Lorraine sent a letter of thanks:

Tomorrow’s speaker is Malcolm Wong
