Last Week's Guest Speaker
Malcolm Wong gave a fantastic, humorous account of his dealings in getting the Chinese Gardens built in Dunedin.
Malcolm, along with former mayor Peter Chin and other colleagues went to great lengths in negotiation with developers, the DCC and our sister city Shanghai. The end result being Dunedin is now home to the only authentic Chinese Garden in the southern hemisphere.
The gardens really put Dunedin on the map with 48 thousand visitors a year. In contrast the sister city of Shanghai gardens welcome 30 thousand a week!
